These paintings and drawings depict a snapshot of Kristen’s inner visions; the cliffs afford far sight nonetheless they embrace hidden dangers. Shadows, like owls’ shamanistic journeying, speak to us of these contradictory known, yet unknown enigmatic dimensions of being.
Kristen is drawn again and again to the past to discover how this element was represented in The Arts especially Zen Painting. By looking intensely, in open eye rumination, Kristen is seeking these nebulous mystic spaces to manifest into being via the paintbrush in an attempt to also understand the present and perhaps something of the future. Her images represent pathways often depicting the past or passages of life, choices and decisions. Pursuing these connective threads, she believes that there evolves an understanding, that the impression of time separates and reconnects.
